Lawrence “Larry” Thomas Wright passed away on 4 May 2024 at age 87. He grew up in Lawrence, Kansas, where he graduated with a degree in finance from the University of Kansas. Larry proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy, primarily in Naval Intelligence. His first tours were at Fleet Intelligence Center Europe (Port Lyautey, Morocco); Fleet Operational Intelligence Training Center, Atlantic; Commander, U.S. Military Assistance Command, Vietnam; Commander, Naval Intelligence Command; and as a CNO briefer. Subsequent tours included serving as the executive assistant to the Director of Naval Intelligence (then-Rear Admiral Bob Inman); Seventh Fleet N2; Commanding Officer, FOSIF Rota; Commanding Officer, Naval Intelligence Processing and System Support Activity (the forerunner of today's Hopper Center at ONI); and ultimately the Pacific Fleet N2. He retired at the rank of captain.

Larry’s post-military career was equally impressive. He served as a senior partner at Booz Allen Hamilton, where he led large parts of the company’s business. Larry was a devoted father to his children, Brad Wright and Sheri Deer, and a cherished patriarch to numerous nieces and nephews, grandchildren, and extended family members. He is also survived by his first wife, Betty Hoffman Wright of Lawrence, Kansas, and a second wife. He cherished his moments fishing and spending time with family in Yellowstone National Park, a true national gem. His absence will be felt by all who knew and loved him.

A celebration of life will be held soon in Fairfax, Virginia.
