TAPS: Navy Veteran and Naval Intelligence Officer in Fatal Crash - Mother of Three Widowed

Dan Speer

From our Chairman:

Greetings to NIP members & friends:

We received some sad news this weekend when we learned that a former Naval Intelligence officer, P-3 aviator and Naval Attache Daniel Speer was killed in a traffic accident in Texas a few days before Christmas.  He was returning home from a Wreaths Across America event in San Antonio.  Daniel was assigned to ONI (Nimitz & SPEAR) 2008-2010 and was the ALUSNA in Croatia in 2013.  Daniel was a 1999 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy.

Dan is survived by his wife Jamie and three children — Teeghan, Cruz and Piper.  Dan was the primary breadwinner in the family and we know from experience that any Navy benefits will take a while to kick in.

I would ask that you consider donating to the GoFundMe set up for the Speer family by his classmates from 1999. The GoFundMe link beleow highlights additional information about Dan and his family.

To lose a father is tough at any time…to do so just before Christmas is especially difficult.  Let’s see what we can do to set them up financially so they can focus on slowly rebuilding their lives in Texas.
