TAPS: Mr. Timothy Nowaczyk

It is with deep regret that we announce the death of Mr. Timothy Nowaczyk, who passed away on Saturday, May 16, 2020. Mr. Nowaczyk was assigned to the Office of the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) as a Supervisory Program Manager, located at the DIA Facility in Reston, VA.

Mr. Nowaczyk joined DIA in December 2004.

Prior to joining DIA, Mr. Nowaczyk worked in the private sector as the sole proprietor of Harmony Consulting, Inc. (2001-2003). This company was an energy (natural gas and electric) consulting firm that assisted Enron Energy Service’s clients in developing alternate energy programs. During the period from 1998 to 2001, Mr. Nowaczyk was a Senior Manager with Enron Energy Services, working with 40 national accounts as a strategic partner in addressing their energy needs. Prior to 1998, he worked for Northern Indiana Public Service Company (NIPSCO) as a member of senior management and earlier as an engineer.

In addition to his civilian career, Mr. Nowaczyk was also a Captain in the United States Navy Reserve where he was affiliated with the Navy Intelligence Program since January 1984. At his last command—the pinnacle of his distinguished career—he served as Commander, Navy Reserve Information Dominance Corps, Region Washington, D.C. He was also Commanding Officer of two Navy Reserve Units: Joint Intelligence Operations Center, United States Transportation Command at Scott Air Force Base (AFB), IL, and Joint Intelligence Center, Central Command at Kelly AFB, TX. His mobilizations include service as the Deputy Commander for the Joint Intelligence Center, Central Command at MacDill AFB, FL. As Deputy Commander, he supported the Joint Intelligence Directorate as well as serving as the Remote Director of Intelligence for Central Command’s Intelligence Support Center at San Antonio, TX.

Mr. Nowaczyk is survived by his wife Nora (Mary) and daughters Ainsley, Cecily, and Gwendolyn—as well as a host of loving in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and long-time friends from around the world.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church on Friday, May 22, 2020 with just the family present due to the pandemic. Tim will be inurned at Arlington National Cemetery at a date to be determined.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to Animal Welfare Institute or the charity of your choice.
