TAPS: CAPT Robert Weidman

18 January 2018. CAPTAIN Robert Paul Weidman, USN (RET), of Virginia Beach, VA, passed away at the age of 66. He had a long and valiant battle against cancer.

Born August 30, 1951, in Philadelphia, PA to George and Virginia Weidman, CAPT Weidman retired after 29 years of honorable service in the United States Navy. CAPT Weidman is a highly decorated Naval Officer with multiple deployments around the globe, including an “around the world” in 1983 and in support of the Gulf War and the Kosovo Conflict.

He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Sheila, and their three children, Terri and her husband Chris Farricker (USN), Michael (USN) and his wife Sara Weidman, and Victoria and her husband Andrew Baumann (USN). Most important in CAPT Weidman’s life are his six grandchildren: Mackinnon and Jackson Baumann, Lily and Caleb Weidman, and Catherine and Baby 2 Farricker. CAPT Weidman is survived by his twin brother Frederick, his wife Stephanie and their two children, Nicholas (Laura Jean) and Christopher. CAPT Weidman is also survived by his brother-in-law Joseph, his wife Jan, and their two children, Joseph and Krista. CAPT Robert Weidman will forever be remembered as a family man and will live in the memories of those he loved and loved him in return.

The family will receive visitors at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel on Wednesday, January 24, 2018, from 6 to 8 p.m. and a funeral mass will celebrate his life at St. Luke’s Catholic Church on Thursday, January 25, 2018, at 10 a.m. The burial will follow on Friday, Jan. 26, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Albert G.
