NIP San Diego Chapter Celebrates 20th Annual Charity Golf Tournament

The NIP San Diego Chapter celebrated its 20th Annual Charity Golf Tournament on Friday, 23 October 2026, at Admiral Baker Golf Course in San Diego. Nearly 70 players teed off in a cool morning sprinkle for the shotgun-start tournament, marking two decades of camaraderie, community support, and charitable giving. Few members of the original organizing crew likely imagined reaching this milestone when the first tournament took place at Admiral Baker 20 years ago. Since then, the event has moved between Navy and public golf courses, welcoming a spirited mix of active-duty service members, retirees, and civilians. Participation has ranged from 60 players during the COVID years to a high of 112, averaging approximately 72 participants annually.

Over its history, the annual tournament has raised more than $75,000, enabling the San Diego Chapter to distribute over $70,000 to sailor and family-focused educational programs and the NIP Foundation. These accomplishments reflect the tireless work of CDR (Ret) Phil Eakin and ISCM (Ret) Stan Kowalsky, along with the generosity of the event’s longstanding sponsors. LEIDOS/SAIC and Neyenesch Printers deserve special recognition for supporting all 20 tournaments. The Chapter also extends sincere thanks to PMAT, Croom Corp., and SPA Inc. for their continued, multiyear contributions.

The Chapter also used the occasion to announce ISCM Heather Hames’s assumption of the presidency as ISCM Cris Galvez prepares for retirement in December 2026. While plans for a 21st tournament remain uncertain, the Chapter proudly celebrates 20 years of lasting friendships, memorable rounds, and meaningful support to the Naval Intelligence community.
