NIP San Diego Chapter Holds Successful Golf Tournament on 11 September 2020

The NIP San Diego Chapter was proud to continue a tradition of community, service and camaraderie at its 14th Annual Golf Tournament at Mission Trails Golf Club on 11 September 2020.  Our chapter was able to raise $4000. Although current pandemic restrictions impacted the inclusion of active duty personnel and post-tournament festivities, we nevertheless more than reached a quorum, with over forty golfers on the course. It was a wonderful day for golf - chilly in the morning and 90-degrees at the end, with a lovely sunrise through the smoke haze rarely seen in these parts. Wildlife abounded.

The unwavering support of our sponsors ensured that we were able to hold the tournament, reach our financial goals, and continue to support our traditional causes.

Full credit goes to NIP San Diego Chapter stalwarts Phil Eakin and Stan Kowalski for identifying and coordinating with our wonderful sponsors, working with the golf course, and coordinating the many logistical details involved with this kind of event.

As soon as restrictions on social gatherings are lifted, we intend to recognize our participants and sponsors.

Daniel Monroe, Steve McKinney, Brian Aker, Doug Grossmann, Roy Chong and Jim Sanders enjoy some light post-tournament socializing. NIP SD intends to hold a full social to recognize the generous sponsors and participants once restrictions on social gatherings are eased.
Although Zach "Chache" Vauter would later complain that he barely missed this putt due to being distracted by John Mark Ishikawa's pants, no one could argue that beautiful weather and Mission Trails Golf Club combined to provide a beautiful setting for this year's tournament.
Todd Sylvester (All Show, No Go), Graham Jackson (Team Snowman) and Craig Ozaki (Force 10) demonstrate cross-team camaraderie and solidarity in support of NIP's common goals.

Many thanks to all our sponsors!

Admiral Level ($500) hole sponsors: Croom Corp, Duchancelle Engineering, Epsilon Systems, L3Harris Technologies, Leidos, Neyenesch Printers and PMAT.  (You will have noted their sponsor signs in tee boxes around the course.)

First Command Financial arranged and provided observers for our Hole-in-One Competition. First Command also entered a Sponsored Foursome, in which two active duty Navy Intelligence Specialists (IS) were able to play in a group with two First Command reps and enjoy the day’s festivities at no cost.

Our door prizes were donated by Golf Mart, Invictus International Consulting, Lazy Dog Restaurants & Bar, Outback Steakhouse, Poway Gun Range and USS Midway Museum.
