Naval Intelligence History Project: Looking for Two More Authors

The Naval Intelligence History Project (NHP) held its kick-off world-wide VTC on 25 January. For those not familiar with the NHP, it is a group project to update CAPT Packard’s Century of Naval Intelligence in time for the 150th anniversary of Naval Intelligence. It will be a peer reviewed historical work published by NHHC.

The researchers, authors and support team are settled in for a busy 2026 and 2027 as we drive to get chapter drafts in for subject matter expert and editorial review by late 2027 and early 2028. Based on some revisions to the chapter lineups, we are in need of at least two researchers/authors who are interested in writing the chapters on 1) the rise of the Ocean Surveillance Information System (OSIS) in the late 1960s and early 1970s and 2) a second chapter on the role of Naval Intelligence during Gulf War II or OIF. For the latter, we want to focus on the view from Bahrain, 5th Fleet Headquarters and the deployed battle groups.
