NIP 2025 Fundraising Campaign on Giving Tuesday

Fellow members and friends of Naval Intelligence Professionals,

I’d like to invite you once again to make an annual year-end donation to NIP. This year our fund-raising campaign will be conducted in conjunction with the annual effort known as Giving Tuesday on 2 December, a day when all people are invited to show their generosity to a cause of their choosing. As friends and supporters of Naval Intelligence Professionals, I can think of few charitable efforts more appropriate than contributing to the public education and professional recognition mission of NIP. You will continue to receive periodic reminders until Giving Tuesday has passed and during the remainder of the calendar year. I’m truly excited about what we have accomplished and future projects we are working on which we need your support. Those future projects include:

• USS Midway Museum: We completed our initial support of the USS Midway Museum in San Diego this year, donating $20,000 to that effort. The San Diego NIP Chapter worked closely with the Museum on the technical aspects of an impressive USS Midway CVIC restoration and creating exhibits which tell the story of naval intelligence support to Operation Desert Storm carrier-based combat strike operations in 1991. We will continue to explore ways to strengthen and expand our partnership with the USS Midway Museum, and other museums, to raise awareness of the value our nation derives from our profession.
• Project 2032: We are coordinating with both ONI and the Naval History and Heritage Command on updating and documenting 150 years of Naval Intelligence History to be published in 2032. Led by longtime senior civilian and military naval intelligence community leadership, all twenty-two chapters of the history project have volunteer researchers and writers who have started work on their share of the project. Publishing will be an added cost in the future.
• Naval History: Pending a Navy decision to move forward, we are exploring how to tell the Naval Intelligence story at the new Naval History Museum so that a broader swath of our citizens can learn about the vital contributions Naval Intelligence has made to our country.

As you’d expect, none of these projects can be completed without your support. We have decided to make our ambitious fund-raising campaign an annual event, and I’d like you to be an integral part of those efforts. Our current finances are solid, but most public generated annual NIP income sources are already dedicated to website expenses, recurring scholarships and awards, and the annual Naval Intelligence Essay contest.

Additionally, we’re emphasizing our Naval nature and have expanded our partnership with the US Marine Corps. We are expecting to expand our award and scholarship programs, and like efforts, to recognize the important contributions of the Corps to Naval Intelligence.

When reviewing donor options on the NIP website donation page, we suggest prioritizing contributions to the NIP General Fund. This gives the NIP Board maximum discretion and flexibility to support future unique opportunities like the USS Midway Museum and Project 2032.
