Over 160 participants, from sailors to flag officers, attended the Navy Reserve Intelligence Community Conference on 8-9 March 2025 at the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) in Springfield, Virginia. The event, organized by Commander Navy Information Forces Reserve Rear Admiral Greg Emery and led by the Reserve intelligence community lead Captain Doug Beck and Reserve enlisted community lead Senior Chief Mary Alder, is an annual event that brings together reserve unit leaders from across the force to receive classified strategic insights from senior leaders on intelligence issues facing the Navy in order to be "Ready on Day One."
Hosted by Vice Admiral Frank ‘Trey’ Whitworth, Director of NGA, the participants received threat briefs from Rear Admiral (Ret) Mike Studeman and Rear Admiral Thomas Henderschedt, and then followed up by operational assessments by Vice Admiral Blake Converse (Deputy Commander, Pacific Fleet) and Vice Admiral Brad Cooper (Deputy Commander, Central Command). The three Reserve intelligence flag officers, Rear Admirals Mike Brown, John Byington, and Michael Freidberg, provided updates on their current assignments. The team was mentored and motivated by Vice Admiral (Ret) Bob Sharp as he shared highlights of his Navy experience, his leadership guiding principles, and the future CVIC exhibit on the USS Midway. Admiral Sharp and other members of Naval Intelligence Professionals joined the participants for an evening of camaraderie at the nearby Fair Winds Brewery.
