Project 2032 MOAs Signed Between ONI, NHHC and NIP

As a sign of continued support and forward progress on NIP’s Project 2032 effort, two Memorandums of Agreement (MOAs) were signed in late October—one between ONI and the Naval History and Heritage Command (NHHC) and one between ONI and NIP. NIP Chair Vice Admiral (Ret) Bob Sharp and Commander, Office of Naval Intelligence (COMONI) Rear Admiral Mike Brookes signed the ONI-NIP MOA on 30 October 2024. NHHC Director Rear Admiral (Ret) Sam Cox and Rear Admiral Brookes signed the MOA between NHHC and ONI in late October.

Project 2032, initiated by former NIP Chairman Tony Cothron in 2016, is an effort to produce an updated history of Naval Intelligence for its 150th anniversary. Lynn Wright is now leading the effort, which builds on the authoritative work A Century of Naval Intelligence by Captain Wyman Packard. The new vision will include a recapitulation of the remarkable history of the oldest continuously-serving intelligence organization in the U.S. Government, with a focus on post-Cold War activities.

NIP is still looking for researchers, writers, and leads on professional editors. If you are interested in contributing or have any information to assist us, please contact the NIP Project 2032 coordinator at nip.project.2032@gmail.com.
