NPS Student Lieutenant Michael Canavati Receives 2021 Inman Award

Canavati presented with Inman Award Lieutenant Michael Canavati is the recipient of the 2021 Admiral B.R. Inman award for Excellence in Intelligence. This award is presented annually to a U.S. Sea Service officer attending Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) in recognition of that student's outstanding contribution to the field of maritime intelligence. Lieutenant Canavati is graduating this December from NPS with a Master’s degree in National Security Affairs, East Asian track, and he will be reporting to INDOPACOM JIOC in January. He wrote his thesis on "China’s Nuclear Modernization: Assessing Strategy and Inadvertent Escalation". According to Captain Robert Hight, the Senior Intelligence Officer and Information Warfare Chair at NPS, LT Canavati was an outstanding student and an active leader of the intelligence community while at Monterey during a difficult time surrounding the COVID lockdowns. In recognition of this achievement, LT Canavati will be presented with a commemorative wall plaque, an engraved telescope, and a 1-year membership in NIP.
