NIP Hawaii Chapter Participates in Wreaths across America Event in Hawaii

NIP’s Hawaii Chapter volunteered at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific on the early morning of 14 December. Teammates from PACFLT/FIWCPAC, INDOPACOM JIOC, SOCPAC, and MARFORPAC helped Wreaths across America with event setup and ceremoniously laid remembrance wreaths for our country’s fallen heroes. During the event, volunteers place wreaths on the headstones of veterans and say their names out loud. The tradition is meant to honor veterans, their families, and the active-duty military, and to teach the next generation about the value of freedom.

“It was deeply meaningful to witness the community unite to honor and remember those who served,” said NIP Hawaii Chapter president LCDR Mike Canavati.
