NIP Capital Chapter Visits Cold War Museum

Members from NIP's DC Chapter, along with members from the Naval Order of the U.S. National Capital Region, toured the Cold War Museum in Warrenton, Virginia on Saturday, 11 February 2023. Following a general introduction to the museum provided by the museum docents, the members were given time to peruse the museum on their own.

The Cold War Museum is located at Vint Hill, on the grounds of the former Vint Hill Farms Station (also known as Monitoring Station No. 1, which was a Top Secret Army signals intelligence base during WWII and the Cold War). It was founded by Frank Powers, the son of U-2 pilot Francis Gary Powers and covers all aspects of the Cold War, to include specific exhibits on IMINT, HUMINT, PHOTINT, and SOSUS. Following the museum visit, the NIP members enjoyed lunch and conversation at the Old Bust Head Brewing Company, right next door to the museum.
