NIP’s Capital Chapter took advantage of NIOBC Class 26040’s “capstone” trip to Washington D.C. to hold a no-host social in their honor on 19 August 2026 at the Commodore Bar in Old Town Alexandria.

A few of NIP’s Capital Chapter members gathered on a sunny Saturday afternoon in late June at the Bleu Frog Winery out in Leesburg. Although it was a small turnout, everyone enjoyed the afternoon and met with the owners of the winery, VADM (Ret) Joe Kernan and his wife Jan.

A lively group of NIP members from all parts of the country gathered at Tom’s Watch Bar in National Harbor on 21 April 2026. The social event was planned in conjunction with the Sea Air and Space (SAS) conference taking place at National Harbor, and the chapter capitalized on the presence of those who travelled to the area to attend, to include IBoss, VADM Mike Vernazza. Despite a last minute venue change, the happy hour proved to be a great opportunity for everyone to catch up, share a few (or more) laughs, and connect with one another.

NIP’s Capital Chapter members congregated on Monday, 13 April in Washington, D.C. at The Jamestown Foundation’s offices for a panel discussion of PLA as Organization 3.0, a reference volume that provides a comprehensive analysis of the organizational structure of the People's Liberation Army (PLA), the armed forces of the Chinese Communist Party.

RADM (Ret) Liz Train was the perfect guest speaker for American Legion Post 24’s Women’s History Month celebration on 21 March, as this year’s theme was "Leading the Change: Women Shaping a Sustainable Future.”   Several NIP members and friends of RADM Train showed up to hear her talk and join in the celebration.

NIP’s Capital Chapter held a no-host social as Aslin Brewing Company in Alexandria, Virginia, on 18 March. The social was held in conjunction with the annual Navy Information Warfare Industry Day, which is co-sponsored by AFCEA, NIP, and OPNAV N2N6.

On 2 December, NIP members visited the Planet Lab’s Arlington, Virginia office, to discuss the company’s open source GEOINT and Maritime Domain Awareness capabilities.

A last minute happy hour at the Union Street Pub in Old Town drew quite a crowd on Wednesday, 12 November. The social event was originally scheduled for 5 November but was postponed after the Senior Leader Symposium was cancelled due to the government shutdown.

Capital Chapter NIP members gathered on 8 September at the Lighthorse Restaurant and Bar in Old Town Alexandria, ahead of the Giants/Viking game that evening. It was a strong turnout for a Monday night and a great chance to catch up after a busy summer!

It was a warm afternoon in June, but that didn’t stop NIP members and friends from meeting up at the Great Frogs Winery in Annapolis, Maryland on Saturday, 28 June.
