After two years in the making, the USS Midway Museum’s brand new immersive exhibit, "Top-Secret: Inside the High-Stakes World of Naval Intelligence", is live! The grand opening will take place on 27 June, with a special invitation-only preview on 25 June for Museum members and guests from the Navy's Intelligence and Information Warfare communities. According to the Museum’s website, the exhibit will allow visitors to “Step inside Midway’s restored Carrier Intelligence Center where real air combat missions were planned during Operation Desert Storm in 1991.”
Features include: a never-before seen look into the authentically restored carrier intelligence center from USS Midway’s final combat deployment; interactive elements that put you in the role of a naval intelligence officer; real-life stories of strategy and surveillance, and the sailors who shaped history; and historic equipment and displays showing how intelligence guided crucial naval aviation strike missions during the war to liberate Kuwait.
NIP proudly partnered with the USS Midway Museum to bring this project to life and is incredibly excited for the opening at the end June. Our NIP members in San Diego, particularly Diana Guglielmo, Phil Eakin, Stan Kowalsky, and Maureen Fox deserve a lot of credit for all the work they have put into this effort, which will have a lasting impact on all those who tour the spaces.
